Cannabis worth around Rs 3 million seized

Police have seized a stock of cannabis worth around Rs million in the Kolonhinna area within the Siyambalanduwa Police Division. 

 

Around 30.5 kilograms of cannabis packed into 61 parcels for distribution were taken into custody following an operations carried out by the Siyambalanduwa Police and Monaragala Police Special Task Force (STF) personnel.

 

Officers also succeeded in arrested the main suspect allegedly responsible for running the illegal operation. 

 

A team of police officer led by the Siyambalanduwa OIC, who were disguised as potential buyers, carried out the raid based on the information obtained by intelligence officers regarding the racket which had been carried out for a long period.

 

The arrested suspect was remanded until August 11  after being produced at the Monaragala Magistrate.
