Audit Bill awaits approval of Attorney-General’s Dept.

Reports state that the National Audit Bill has been submitted to the Attorney-General’s Department, pending approval of the Attorney-General.
The Legal Draftsman’s Department had reportedly concluded the drafting of the Bill and hadthen proceeded to submit it to the Government a few days ago.
The Attorney-General’s Department is thus tasked with the responsibility of certifying that the Bill abides by the Constitution of Sri Lanka.
The Bill is due to be submitted to the Cabinet and subsequently to the Parliament, following certification by the Attorney-General’s Department.
Government information sources stated that the Government expected to pass and enforce the National Audit Bill within the course of the next month.
