
The cabinet has approved the amendment of the Judicature Act, in order to increase the number of High Courts judges.
The Legal Draftsman has reportedly completed the drafting of the new amendment to increase the number of High Courts judges from 75 to 85.
Accordingly, the cabinet has approved Justice Mnisiter Wijayadasa Rajapaksha’s proposal to gazette the Judicature (Amendment) Act and subsequently submit it to the Parliament.
The proposal had reportedly been presented as a means of mitigating the delays faced in the judiciary process and increasing the overall efficiency.
