Mustapha receives draft legislation limiting campaign spending

Executive Director of PAFFREL, Rohana Hettiarachchie stated that the draft legislation to implement laws limiting campaign spending has been submitted to the Minister of Provincial Councils and Local Government, Faizer Mustapha. 

 

Hettiarachchie added that the legislation was to be pitched to the cabinet for a long time, and that once the document passes in cabinet it can be passed as a law. 

 

The statements were brought after a discussion held between representatives from PAFFREL earlier today (03). 

 

However, Faizer Mustapha stated that this was not an attempt made to delay the local government elections.
