17 injured in collision near Katharagama

17 people involved in an accident on the Buttala – Katharagama road have been reportedly injured.
A small lorry travelling towards Katharagama has collided with a van moving in the same direction. It has been reported that the lorry collided with the van whilst attempting to overtake the vehicle ultimately forcing both vehicles off the road.
17 people involved in the accident have been admitted to the Katharagama national hospital for treatment. It has been reported that 7 of the injured persons have been discharged from the hospital after receiving treatment.
The Katharagama police have stated that the accident will be placed under investigation in due course.
