
The Ministry of Fisheries and Aquatic Development are to commence a housing scheme consisting of fully furnished houses for the fisheries community, under the name ‘Diyawara Piyasa’.
The model housing scheme will be located at the Kirimundalama Village in Puttalam.
The scheme will be worth a total of Rs.15,000,000 and consist of 50 houses, under the patronage of the Minister of Fisheries and Aquatic Development Mahinda Amaraweera.
A further Rs. 300,000 will be allocated to help refurbish houses of the fishermen, per house, while renovation processes on certain houses has already begun.
A total of Rs. 1,200,000,000 has been allocated for this process in the year 2017.
