06 suspects arrested in Colombo and Jaffna including the alleged leader of the ‘Ava group’ are currently being questioned by the Jaffna police.
It has been reported that a 48-hour detention order was placed upon the 06 suspects by the Jaffna magistrate court.
Sathyavel Nathan Nishanthan, alias “Nisha Victor” and 3 other suspects were arrested by the Terrorism Investigation Division (TID) yesterday (7) at the Fort bus station.
Nathan Nishanthan who is the chief suspect in the Kopai Police attack investigation has been linked with several acts of violence that conspired in the Northern regions of the country over the past few weeks.
The TID were able to arrest a suspect allegedly involved in the Kopai attack in Mattakuliya on August 06, whilst 02 other suspects were taken into custody in Jaffna.
02 swords and a motorcycle that were in possession of the suspects were confiscated by the TID. These statements were made by police spokesman SP Ruwan Gunasekara
