Permission sought to question Vijayakala and another MP

Former Senior DIG Lalith Jayasinghe has been further remanded till the August 22 after being produced before Kayts Magistrates A.M.M. Riyal. 

 

He was arrested by the CID on July 15 for allegedly helping a suspect in the murder of schoolgirl Sivaloganathan Vidya in Jaffna to evade arrest.

 

When the case was taken up today (8), the attorney general’s department informed the court that permission has been sought from the Speaker of Parliament to record statements from TNA MP Vijayakala Maheswaran and another MP in connection with a video submitted to court.
