A youth who was arrested for allegedly damaging the conical spire of the Ruwanweilsaya stupa in Anuradhapura was cleared of all charges today. (9)
The chief Magistrate of the Anuradhapura court Harsha Kekunawela reportedly dismissed the charges that were placed.
The youth who had been in the vicinity of Ruwanweliseya, was reportedly operating a drone camera which he lost control of mid-flight. Accordingly it was reported that the drone collided with the conical spire of the stupa and fell to the floor.
The individual was then arrested by the Anuradhapura Police and brought before the Magistrate court.
It was revealed today that no damage had been done to the stupa. Consequently the youth was released after all charges against him were cleared.
