
Minister of Megapolis and Western Development, Patali Champika Ranawaka announced that the priority lanes for buses will be made effective from tomorrow (15) onward.
He stated that the priority bus lanes would be in service from 6.00 am till 9.00 am on weekdays.
The priority lane system will thus be implemented along roads between Moratuwa and Colombo and Battaramulla and Colombo that have three lanes.
Private buses, Ceylon Transport Board (CTB) buses and buses transporting students will be allowed to frequent said priority bus lanes.
The Minister stated that the programme will be implemented according to the test runs and assessment reports.
The proposal was set in motion as a means of mitigating the traffic congestion in and around Colombo.
