Minister S. B. Dissanayake states that Mahinda Rajapaksa should be ashamed of his statement that he didn’t resign as party leader and hand over powers to the current President, when that was exactly what happened.
He added that he himself had been present on the occasion where the leadership was transferred at the Parliament Spokesperson’s official residence.
The Minister further said that the party secretary Anura Priyadarshana Yapa had been a witness to the moment when the transfer of party presidency was suggested.
He accordingly remarked that Rajapaksa was either suffering from a mental illness or simply had no shame, to make such statements when he himself instructed for the letter to be drafted confirming the transfer of power.
