Exclusion of weak students from public examinations is not justifiable – CTU

The Ceylon Teachers’ Union stated that the practice of certain schools disallowing weak students to face public examinations in order to increase the percentage of students passing the exam is a negative practice yielding dire ramifications.
The secretary of the CTU Joseph Stallin stated that administrators of certain schools refrain from allowing students who do not perform well academically to face public examinations to improve the pass percentage of their schools.
It was also stated that officials from the Ministry of Education had been informed by the CTU to prevent such a situation from arising.
