The Chairman of the Elections Commission Mahinda Deshapriya says that the Local Government election can be held either on December 09 this year or January 15, 2018.
He stated that if they are unable to hold the election before the G.C.E. Ordinary Level examination this year, the election can be held after the exam.
However, he stated that imposing limitation on field officers from contesting the Local Government election was a good decision.
