Minister of Industry & Commerce, Rishad Bathiudeen stated that Sathosa outlets and Co-operatives will continue to issue goods under the drought relief programme with no shortage.
He said that each and every drought-stricken family had been allocated a sum of Rs. 5,000 under orders of the President and the Prime Minister.
He then explained that the Government had made arrangements to issue goods at a reduced rate instead of directly handing over the allocated sums to the affected families, on the basis of relief provision.
Accordingly, the Minister explained that the price-reduced goods would be available for purchase from all Sathosa and Co-operative outlets across the island, with no shortage of goods.
He expressed these sentiments upon attending a function in Mannar.
