Former President of the Sri Lanka Medical Council Carlo Fonseka stated that he will dedicate the final years of his life towards the fight against the South Asian Institute of Technology and Medicine should the government not take steps to abolish the institute.
He further stated that the government has sacrificed quality for profits by allowing the SAITM campus to operate. The former President of the SLMC made these remarks while visiting the convener of the Medical Faculty Students’ Action Committee Ryan Jayalth, who is currently remanded at the Welikada prison for forced entry and destruction of public property.
Carlo Fonseka further stated that the government should immediately take steps to abolish SAITM using the proposal submitted by the panel of university lecturers against the institute.
