
President Maithripala Sirisena extended his jovial sentiments to every Sri Lankan citizen celebrating the Id ul adha festival today, by stating that the Hadji festival reminds the nation how unity is integral for prosperity in an already divided world.
He also stated that the Hadji festival stands as a true testament to ethnic harmony within Sri Lanka and across the globe. It was further stated that throughout history, poignant moments of religious harmony occurred during revered celebrations such as the Hadji festival.
The President expressed these sentiments while circulating a message of peace to all the Islamic devotees celebrating the festival today.
Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe extended his wishes, by highlighting the importance given to religious synchronization by the Muslim community within Sri Lanka. He stated that the Hadji festival reminds people to strive for unity rather than isolation.
The premier illustrated his sentiments by praising the global Islamic community, that bands together regardless of caste, creed or social stature to revere their god on this most holy day.
