Section of Galle road closed to prevent protesters entering Myanmar embassy

Police forces have been forced to close Galle Road from the Kollupitya junction to Galle Face to prevent a protest march that was moving towards the Myanmar embassy. 

 

Several protests were launched over the past few days by Islamic devotees against the cruel treatment of the Rohingya refugees by the government of Myanmar. 

 

Protestors in Sri Lanka have urged the President and Prime Minister to intervene and provide a solution to the Rohingya community through discussions. 

 

Motorists have been advised to avoid the area to avoid congestion.
