Faults of a few monks have defamed the clergy – Amaraweera

Minister of Fisheries and Aquatic Resource Development Mahinda Amaraweera stated that the indiscreet, unethical behavior of certain Buddhist monks has brought shame to the entirety of the Buddhist community in Sri Lanka. 

 

The Minister further stated that the people are gradually losing the reverence for Buddhist clergy due to the reckless acts of a few radical priests. 

 

He further stated that the Buddhist clergy should take example from the other religious leaders in the country to protect Buddhism and its veneration in Sri Lanka.
