State Minister of Defence Ruwan Wijewardene says that the government has initiated a number of programmes to provide children a good future and that education is one the sectors that has received the most amount of annual budgetary allocations.
He said that the government has planned many far reaching programmes with the intention to uplift the educational standards of the younger generation in keeping with modern technological advancements which will be implemented in the very near future.
He made these comments during a Children’s Day event at the Siyambalapewatte Junior School in Biyagama today (o1). The ‘Lama Lovata Ruwan Dinak’, a day long children’s day programme had been organized in view of the World Children’s Day.
State officials, educational authorities, local residents and a large number of children were present at the ceremony, the defence ministry said.
