President to inaugurate the battle of national food production program tomorrow

President Maithripala Sirisena will declare open the battle of national food production program(Jathika Aahara Nispadana Sangramaya ) tomorrow (06).

 

The program will be held from October 6-12 under the theme “Ekwemu – Negitimu, Atukotu – Purawamu”.

 

The opening ceremony will be held at Kekirawa,Thibbatu Wewa reservoir.

 

The initiative will be implemented as a comprehensive national program, with the joint participation of all the Ministries, including the Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Mahaweli Development and the Ministry of Irrigation. 

 

It is expected to increase the rice production for the local and foreign market, while eliminating the decline in the food production experienced during the recent drought situation prevailed in the country.
