A new service will be introduced parallel to the World Post Day, said Post Master General Rohana Abeyratne.
It is expected to introduce competitive market ranges for small and medium scale entrepreneurs through e-market service.
He made this statement at a media briefing held at Colombo yesterday (07).
Steps will also be taken to improve the standards of Sub-Post Offices which remain unrecognized among the public, he added.
World Post Day is celebrated on October 09 annually to commemorate the establishment of the Universal Postal Union in 1874 Bern,Switzeland.
The UPU Congress held in Tokyo, Japan in 1969 declared October 09 as World Post Day.Since then, countries across the world participate annually in the celebrations. The Posts in many countries use the event to introduce or promote new postal products and services.
