A briefing program for all manufacturers of meters for three-wheelers is scheduled to be held, to inform all meter manufacturers of the basic standards that will have to be adhered to during the production process.
The National Council for Road Safety stated that the briefing will be held on October 12, at the Sri Lanka Standards Institution.
According to the new system, all meters will display the rate charged per kilometer travelled and have the capability of issuing a receipt with detailed information of the trip.
Discussions are being held to provide all manufacturers with an initial sum of money to commence the production of the new meters.
The time period to install the newly manufactured meters on all three-wheelers will expire on December 31.
