Railway Department incurs heavy losses

The Railway Trade Union Collective reported that the Railway Department has incurred severe losses during the calendar year by outsourcing the maintenance activities of railway stations to a private company.
Secretary of the Railway Trade Union Collective Sampath Rajitha stated that Railway authoritarians employed the services of a private company even when there were several maintenance staff workers already employed.
He further stated that President Maithripala Sirisena has been informed of this matter through a written request that was submitted to the Presidential Secretariat.
