
Minister of Provincial Councils and Local Government Faiszer Mustapha stated that all preparations are currently being made to conduct Provincial Council elections according to the new mixed elections system that will dispel nepotism.
Speaking to the media at a gathering in Padukka, Minister Mustapha stated that the current government is paying for the sins committed by Basil Rajapaksa, who postponed elections anticipating a long tenure in power.
He further stated that regardless of all the obstacles that have been posed, Local Government elections will be held by January 2018.
Minister Mustapha also mentioned that the new elections system will not leave any room for nepotism.
