
The Department of Meteorology says that the showery condition over the island is expected to enhance during next few days and cloudy skies are also likely over most parts of the island.
Showers or thundershowers will occur over most parts of the island, particularly after 2.00 p.m..
It said that fairly heavy falls (about 75-100mm) can be expected at some places, particularly in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Eastern and Uva provinces and in the Galle, Matara, Vauniya and Mullaitivu districts.
The Met Department also said that showers or thundershowers will occur in the sea area off the coast extending from Kankasanturai to Hambantota via Puttalam and Galle.
Showers or thundershowers may occur at several places in the other sea areas around the island in the afternoon or night.
Heavy falls are also likely at some places in the Southern and Eastern deep sea areas with winds expected to be westerly to south-westerly in direction and speed will be 30-40 kmph.
The wind speed can increase up to 50 kmph in the sea area off the coast extending from Puttalam to Mannar and in the sea area off the coast extending from Hambantota to Pottuvil.
The sea areas off the coast extending from Hambantota to Pottuvil can be fairly rough at times while the sea areas will be temporary rough during thundershowers.
