Bilateral discussions between Indian and Sri Lankan authorities are currently being held to formulate a resolution to the prolonged maritime conflict between the fishing communities of India and Sri Lanka.
The talks are being held at New-Delhi in India today (14).
Notably, this is the first instance that bilateral discussions are being held on the conflict since November 2016.
Reports confirm that discussions were held with fisherman from both nations yesterday (13), following which discussions are currently being held between Ministries in the presence of several Trade Union heads.
Minister of Fisheries and Aquatic Resource Development Mahinda Amaraweera was accompanied by a diplomatic contingent from Sri Lanka to participate in the discussions.
