President Maithripala congratulated Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on his landslide victory and lauded him of once again receiving the honour of being elected as the Prime Minister of Japan.
President Sirisena expressed his congratulatory sentiments via a message on twitter that read,
“Heartfelt congratulations to Japan’s Prime Minister @AbeShinzo for his landslide victory at the country’s general elections.”
Meanshile Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe congratulated his Japanese counterpart expressing his willingness to further strengthen ties between Japan and Sri Lanka.
Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe swept to a resounding victory in a snap election on Sunday (22), and immediately vowed to “deal firmly” with threats from North Korea that dominated the campaign.
Abe’s ruling conservative coalition was on track to win more than 310 seats in the 465-seat parliament, according to a projection from public broadcaster NHK, handing the premier a two-thirds “super-majority.”
