
President Maithripala opened the National Epilepsy Centre at the Colombo General hospital following a short ceremony within hospital premises.
The 10-story building came into fruition as a result of aid provided by the Saudi Fund for Development which donated Rs.4.5 billion to the project.
The centre that has been equipped with state of the art technology is equipped with a dedicated Neurology clinic, Neuro pharmacy, mobile electronic stimulation unit, medical education and public information station also has a viewing gallery for patients and family members along with a conference hall.
The newly opened Epidemiology centre has the capacity to host 100 patients within its wards.
