Twelve passengers including two pregnant mothers were injured following a collision between two buses that were travelling on the Anuradhapura-Kandy main road.
Reports confirm that the two buses collided in close proximity to Dambulla last night (25). The collision occurred between a private bus and a CTB bus when the private bus attempted to overtake the CTB bus and collided into the rear end of the CTB bus.
The Dambulla Police detained both drivers of the buses in relation to the incident.
All the injured persons were admitted to the Dambulla hospital and are currently receiving treatment. Hospital sources confirm that none of the passengers sustained heavy injuries.
