The Mahanayake Theors of Asgiriya and Malwatta Chapters are voicing out the opinion of the general public, hence the President should pay respect to their advises without rejection, said Central Province Chief Governor Niluka Ekanayke.
She made this statement while participating in a prize distribution ceremony held at Galewela yesterday (24).
Responding to questions raised by the journalists at the ceremony, Niluka Ekanayake said that leaders should adhere to the advice given by monks to stand as a nation.
The President’s sole intention is the establishment of people’s Sovereignty, and the President has acknowledged the honorable request of the Mahanaykes warmly, she said.
The Chief Governor also added that the President would not take any action beyond the Maha Sangha.
