India and Sri Lanka sign MoU to construct 1200 residences in Hambantota

Indian and Sri Lankan government officials signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to construct 1200 houses in Hambantota.
The MoU was signed by Secretary to the Ministry of Housing and Construction W.K.K. Athukorala and the Indian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Taranjit Sigh Sandhu.
According to the Jagran Josh, the 1200 houses will be constructed as model villages using Indian grant assistance amounting up to Rs.600 million.
The project that was launched targeting low income earning Sri Lankans, will provide each beneficiary with a cash grant of Rs.500,000.
