
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said that they are looking forward to strengthen relationships between Iran and Sri Lanka.
He pointed out that Iran hopes to further strengthen ties with Sri lanka in the fields of culture, science and trade.
He made this statement at the handover of appointment letter to the Iran’s new Sri Lankan Ambassador Mohamed Arafaz.
It is also learned that a new program will be established for mutual cooperation between the two countries.
The Iranian President had agreed to help Sri Lanka through commercial banks.
The Iranian Ambassador to Sri Lanka has requested the Iranian President to facilitate Iranian investors and businessmen to arrange for investment in the country, it is reported.
Meanwhile, Justice and Foreign Employment Minister, Thalatha Athukorala, yesterday (28) signed the agreement on the exchange of prisoners between the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and the Islamic Republic of Iran.
