CWC stages hartal in Kotagala

The Kotagala economic centre was closed down earlier today (3), as a result of a hartal campaign staged by the Ceylon Workers’ Congress.
The hartal was staged in protest of several name changes that were made in Hatton to state institutions. The Hatton Thondaman vocational Training centre and the Thondaman sports complex were both changed under the current regime.
The protests that were launched near the Nuwara-eliya Pradeshiya sabha extended up to the Kotagala kovil.
The CWC activists stated that no one had the authority to change the names of the institutions in question.
