The Ceylon Motorcyclists’ Association alleges that an International mafia is being operated through Petroleum Resources Development Ministry and requests the President to take over the Ministry.
In a letter addressed to Petroleum Resources Development Ministry Secretary the Association expressed strong opposition over the decision taken by the government to issue a circular declaring that fuel should be pumped only to vehicles until the fuel crisis has been averted.
The Association opposed the decision alleging that the decision had given rise to confusion as fuel is being provided to power generator machines and mechanical equipment through cans.
“In a situation where the President had declared fuel as a necessary commodity we are under the question as to how the Minister could issue such a circular applying limitations to the issuance of petrol.” said Chirantha Amarasinghe, President of The Ceylon Motorcyclists’ Association.
The Secretary to the Petroleum Ministry stated that a circular will be issued today (7), on the issuance of petrol declaring that fuel should be pumped only to vehicles until the fuel crisis has been averted.
It has been reported that the Ceylon Petroleum Storage Terminals Ltd (CPSTL) will issue a further 2,400 metric tonnes of petrol today (7), to filling stations throughout Sri Lanka.
