
The driver of the bus which was involved in a fatal accident yesterday (6) that claimed the lives of 7 civilians has been remanded following a hearing at the Puttalam Magistrates’s court. Accordingly the driver will be remanded till November 15.
The death toll following a fatal collision involving a private bus and a three-wheeler at Madurankuliya on the Colombo-Puttalam road has increased to 7 people with 44 other individuals wounded and hospitalised.
Police said that the incident had occurred at around 8.00am yesterday and that the injured were admitted to Puttalam, Chilaw and Mundalama hospitals.
The bus, traveling from Colombo to Jaffna, had attempted to overtake a three-wheeler near the 10th Mile Post in Madurankuliya when it had collided with the railing of the bridge and toppled.
The accident had also resulted in heavy traffic congestion on the Colombo – Puttalam road, Ada Derana reporter said.
