
Ali Khan Sharif has been sworn in to the Northern Provincial Council seat left vacant following the resignation of Rifkhan Bathiudeen of the All Ceylon People’s Congress.
Mr Sharif attended the 109th session of the Northern Provincial Council today (7) and took oaths before Chairman of the council, C.V.K. Sivagnanam.
Rifkhan Bathiudeen has resigned as a member of the Northern Provincial Council, based on a decision taken by the central committee of the All Ceylon People’s Congress, which is led by his brother Minister of Industry and Commerce Rishad Bathiudeen.
Ali Khan Sharif had contested for the Northern Provincial Council from the Mannar District, however had failed to get elected to the council. He was nominated by the party to fill the vacant seat.
