President Maithripala Sirisena says even though, few people in the government leveled allegations and criticisms against him for appointing the Bond Commission, he appointed the Commission to fulfill the pledge given by him to the people to eradicate fraud and corruption from the country, while ensuring the fair justice in the society as a government of good governance.

He made these remarks addressing the second death anniversary of late Ven. Maduluwawe Sobitha thero, held at the premises of the Ape Gama in Battaramulla, today (08).

President Sirisena emphasized that all who are accountable for the Central Bank bond issue should take the responsibility in this regard and further said that the Good Governance government formed with a clear pure intention, not to do the erroneous acts done during the previous era.

All should commit themselves as a consensual government to protect the concept of Good Governance as well as to deliver the social justice, the President said. He added that the rule of law should be equal for every citizen and the enforcing the law against the wrongdoers should also do in a proper manner.

The President also said that he became the President of this country with the readiness to give up that position any time, and said that it is the responsibility of all those who are with the government to provide their assistance for the initiative he has taken for the betterment of the country.

The President stated that the good things done by the government of good governance which completes 3 years on January 08 next year should be taken to the people. He said the government still has the time to correct some wrong things done by few people in the government, and move forward as a government.

“The highest tribute which can be paid to late Ven. Maduluwawe Sobhitha Thero is to be committed to build a fair society which was his vision, philosophy and the expectation”, the President said.

President Sirisena laid foundation stone for the statue of late Ven. Maduluwawe Sobhitha Thero, to be built in the parliament roundabout.
