Govt should inform SC on verdict on SAITM – GMOA

The GMOA stated that the President should inform the Supreme Court of his final decision on the Medical Faculty of the South Asian Institute of Technology and Medicine as soon as possible.
Assistant Secretary of the GMOA Dr.Nalinda Herath stated that the President was informed of the above via a written statement by the GMOA.
He further stated that even though the government had made a pledge to abolish the medical faculty of SAITM, the Supreme Court and relevant authoritative bodies are yet to be informed of the government’s official stance.
Meanwhile Minister of Health Rajitha Senaratne stated that steps will be taken to merge the Dr.Neville Fernando hospital with the Mulleriyawa hospital.
