Rs 8.6 million allocated for the construction of Mahantegama road

Rs 8.6 million has been allocated for the construction of the road from Colombo-Kandy main road to Mahantegama via Gampola and the construction work will commence as soon as possible, said Kegalle District Secretary Chandrakasiri Bandara a short while ago.
He made this statement at a discussion held with Mahantegama villagers at Kegalle District Secretariat today.
A protest was held by the villagers at Mawanella-Mahanthegama junction demanding the authorities to reconstruct the road which was in a dilapidated condition.
The transportation of Colombo-Kandy road was halted for four hours as a result of the protest.
