
Minister of Megapolis and Western Development Patali Champika Ranawaka announced that a mass wedding ceremony where 100 Chinese couples will get married in Sri Lanka will be hosted in Colombo on December 17.
Speaking to the media at a special press conference today (29), Minister Ranawaka stated that the large scale ceremony will be a ‘royal wedding’ signifying the strong-ties existing between China and Sri Lanka.
The ceremony will be held at Town Hall where 100 Chinese couples including 3 Olympic medallists will tie the knot in a grand ceremony that will be attended by President Maithripala Sirisena, the Prime Minister and several high ranking officials from Sri Lanka and China.
The Chinese couples had expressed their intent to get married in the island nation and will be aided by the Ministry of Tourism in organizing the event.
