Grade 11 student detained for possession of drugs in Deiyandara

A package containing 270Mg of cannabis was found within the school bag of a grade 11 student of a school in Mulatiyana.
The Deiyandara police detained the student after school administration informed them of the incident.
The student was produced before the Deiyandara Magistrate’s court where he was granted Rs.50,000 surety bail. The student was ordered to appear before court once again on January 4.
Police sources stated that all school bags of grade 11 students from the school were checked upon receiving a tip off from an anonymous source that a student was peddling drugs.
