Russian tourist drowns off the coast of Thiranagama

A Russian tourist on vacation in Sri Lanka drowned while bathing off the coast of Thiranagama in Hikkaduwa.
Reports confirm that the Russian tourist and his Ukrainian wife were swept away by strong currents while bathing at a private beach in Thiranagama.
Residents of the area recovered the body of the Russian a few hours later.
The deceased individual is a 52 year old who was on holiday with his wife. The body was transferred to the Karapitiya hospital for further examination.
