Two women held with 40 bottles of whiskey at BIA

Two female passengers returning to Sri Lanka from Italy have been apprehended by Sri Lanka Customs at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Katunayake, while attempting to smuggle 40 bottles of whiskey into the country.
The customs spokesman said that the suspects, 32-year-old residents of Ja-Ela and Marawila, had arrived in the country onboard flight QR 132 at 9.30am today (21).
The undeclared bottles of liquor were packed inside two boxes, eh said.
Further investigations are being carried out by Customs.
