Four suspected associates of notorious underworld leader known as ‘Angoda Lokka’ have been arrested with weapons by the Police Organised Crime Division, Police Spokesman SP Ruwan Gunasekara said.
The suspects who are believed to be connected to several crimes including murders were arrested in Athurugiya and Hokandara areas.
They are suspected to be involved in the shooting and killing of an individual on Galwarusawa Road, Athurugiriya on March 19 and the shooting incident targeting a residence in Athurugiriya on March 26.
A T-56 assault rifle with 12 bullets, 6 daggers, a motorcycle, a three-wheeler, 2kg of Kerala Ganja and close Rs 80,000 in cash found in the possession of the suspects were also taken into custody.
The arrested suspects are to be produced at the Kaduwela Magistrate’s Court today while the Polcie Organised Crime Division is conducting further investigations.
