CoL Committee recommends to increase milk powder prices

The Cost of Living Committee has recommended to the Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) to increase the price of imported milk powder.
Accordingly the committee has recommended increasing the price of a 400g packet of milk powder by Rs. 20 and the price of a 1kg packet by Rs. 50.
The price of imported milk powder has not been increased since 2015 while companies had requested for a price hike.
However, the Cost of Living Committee which convened yesterday (3) decided to increase the prices by a lower sum than that which was requested y companies.
The Consumer Affairs Authority said that the relevant Gazette notification on increasing the price of imported milk powder will be issued later today (4).
