An army officer has committed suicide by shooting himself in the Kayts area.
An officer of the Sri Lanka Army attached to the army camp in Araly has taken his own life using his service weapon, police said.
The deceased is a 22-year-old resident of Udakirilla, Ratnapura.
The postmortem examination is to be carried out today while Kayts Police is conducting further investigations.
