Based on the complaint made by Deputy Minister Ranjan Ramanayake, Criminal Investigation Department (CID) will commence and investigation in the New York Times article’s allegations.

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe made this statement at the Parliament, today (04).

Addressing the Parliament, he stated that there is no need to resurrect the LTTE and a decision regarding the State Minister Maheswaran’s statement will be taken after meeting with her.

PM said that there are issues of fundamental rights and devolution of power to be solved by coming to a political solution that is desired by all races in the country while protecting the country’s sovereignty and priority to Buddhism.

Mentioning that the President and the government are working on giving back the lands, he also said that the North and East need development and that they discussed on this even yesterday (03).

PM Wickremesinghe said that when they heard about Maheswaran’s statement, the political committee convened and that they will meet with her.

He also stated that, the ones who made Karuna who killed police officer a vice chairman, won a presidential by taking money from Prabhakaran and imprisoned the Army General who defeated the LTTE has no right to speak about this statement at the parliament. They shouted at the Parliament yesterday (03) only to cover up the NYT article incident, he further stated.
