
The Special High Court today issued summons on former President’s Chief of Staff Gamini Senarath and 3 others to appear before the court on August 24 to face charges over allegedly misappropriating Rs 500 million belonging to Litro Gas Lanka.
The three-member judge bench at Colombo Special High Court comprising High Court Judges Sampath Abeykoon, Sampath Wijayaratne and Champa Rajaratne issued this order.
The Attorney General had filed a case against the four suspects including Gamini Senarath for violating the Public Property Act and the Penal Code by allegedly misappropriating Rs 500 million belonging to the Litro Gas Lanka during the time period from February 1, 2014 to January 27, 2015.
Twenty-four charges have been filed against the defendants and 61 witnesses have been named for the case.
Furthermore, 92 documents pertaining to the case have been submitted to the court.
This case is reportedly the first to be filed at the Special High Court Trial-at-Bar.
