A woman has been injured and hospitalised following a shooting incident at Armstrong Junction in Gonahena, Kadawatha.
Police Spokesman SP Ruwan Gunasekara said that the shooting had occurred at around 1.00pm today (7) and that the injured woman has been admitted to the Ragama Hospital.
Police said that so far no information regarding the suspects involved in the shooting has been uncovered and that investigations are ongoing.
However, sources claim that the 34-year-old victim was only released on bail last month after being arrested and remanded in connection with a murder.
It has been reported that the woman shot after returning from a court hearing today over the murder of a businessman on 17 December 2017, for which she had been arrested as a suspect.
