
Puttalam Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman Anjana Sandaruwan has been taken into custody by the Immigration officer at the Bandaranaike International Airport today (10).
The Chairman was arrested as he was attempting to travel abroad despite a court order of a travel ban on him.
The travel ban had been imposed by the Puttalam High Court over an ongoing case for the murder of a person in 2010. On 16th January 2010, a person was shot dead in Madurankulama area in Puttalam.
However, Chairman Sandaruwan was arrested while attempting to travel neglecting the court order.
He was then handed over to the Criminal Investigation Department, following arrest.
